Physiotherapy

We provide detailed assessment and treatment of all areas of the body, including spinal, upper and lower limb problems.

Our philosophy is to maximise the use of hands-on treatment, specific exercise and education.

Real Time Ultrasound
As the deep abdominal and back muscles are inherently difficult to see, RTUS provides a form of feedback that allows you to see these muscles work, giving instant feedback and helping improve accuracy and effectiveness.

Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is useful in rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery, acute injury, and where buoyancy is needed as an aid to exercise.

Exercise in water is often useful in early stages postsurgery for certain conditions, and in the early stages of some acute injuries. It can be used as a transition to exercise on land.

We use the hydrotherapy pool at Thebarton Aquatic Centre, which is kept at a temperature that is excellent for hydrotherapy.

McKenzie Method
The McKenzie method is a system of diagnosis and treatment has a focus on posture and self management.

Pain management
Chronic or persistent pain is a common problem, often with conflicting diagnoses and advice. Research evidence shows that best management needs a multifaceted approach. This includes education about the nature of pain and basic understanding of the biology of pain. It also requires sensible, graded exercise in the context of an understanding of the pain.

Graded Motor Imagery (GMI) is another tool that has been shown to be effective as part of management for chronic pain. It is a graded series of brain exercises to help improve and reorder the representation of your body in the brain.   Click on this link to read more at www.gradedmotorimagery.com, including evidence for its effectiveness.
